49ers' Jimmie Ward likely out until training camp

The San Francisco 49ers will likely be without first-round pick Jimmie Ward until training camp as he continues to recover from a fractured foot.

Ward, who underwent surgery in March, said he was unaware of the injury until it was discovered by doctors during the NFL Scouting Combine.

"I didn't feel it," the safety said, via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com. "I had no symptoms. I didn't feel anything."

Ward was present for the 49ers' opening day of rookie minicamp, but did not take part in any drills. While it's possible he could return at some point during organized team activities, head coach Jim Harbaugh suggested Friday the 49ers may give Ward additional recovery time.

"Right now, (he is) just in the walk-through type of sessions," Harbaugh said. "But he is scheduled to be healthy for training camp."
