A representative for Houston Texans offensive tackle David Quessenberry announced Tuesday that the second-year pro was recently diagnosed with lymphoma after experiencing shortness of breath at team practice.

In an official statement, Texans general manager Rick Smith said the team is "extremely confident in the care and treatment David will receive," adding that Quessenberry "is a fighter and a courageous young man and we look forward to his full and complete recovery."

Quessenberry himself vowed to win his battle with cancer and return stronger than ever before.
