Packers' Mike McCarthy: 'No doors closed yet' on Jermichael Finley
During an interview with The Bill Michaels Show on Friday, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said the team remains open to the possibility of bringing back tight end Jermichael Finley.
McCarthy gave no indication of how the Packers' medical staff feel about Finley's recovery from spinal fusion surgery, but said he would love to work with the 27-year-old again. He also said the Packers have left the door open for returns from defensive lineman Johnny Jolly and nose tackle Ryan Pickett.
"You're talking about three great guys, and guys you enjoy working with every single day," McCarthy said. "No doors are closed yet, and we'll see what happens. It's always something that I think you have to be realistic about in the National Football League. I would love to work with all three of those guys again."
Finley has received medical clearance from at least one doctor to resume his football career, but has yet to garner any significant interest on the open market. He most recently worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and is reportedly on the the radar of the Oakland Raiders.
