Report: Ravens' Jimmy Smith arrested for disorderly conduct
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith was arrested Saturday night and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, the Baltimore Sun reports.
According to Baltimore County police, officers were called to The Green Turtle sports bar in Towson, MD., where they were informed by a manager that there was an unconscious woman inside the bathroom.
Smith was also inside the bathroom, assisting the woman as she vomited into a sink, police said. Smith told the officers that he had participated in a photo shoot with the woman earlier in the evening.
Police said Smith was repeatedly asked to step aside while medics attended to the woman, but refused to comply and became argumentative.
According to a police report, Smith cursed at the arresting officer and asked him, "What the [expletive] are you gonna do?" When told to leave, Smith allegedly replied, "[Expletive] you. What the [expletive] are you gonna do?"
Smith was released from custody at 11:15 p.m. Saturday after being issued a citation. The woman, who police say was intoxicated, was taken to a local hospital.
"We're gathering information about this," Ravens senior vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne said.
This is the fifth arrest of a Ravens player this offseason.
In May, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he was "very concerned" about the off-field issues involving his players.
"We talk to those guys all the time," Harbaugh said during organized team activities, via BaltimoreRavens.com. "I'm disappointed in some of the silliness that has gone on."
"Character is very important to us. It's something that really matters to us. We think everything that everything you do off the field has an impact on what you do on the field, and vice versa."
