Report: High-profile attorney Ted Wells to assist Vikings on Kluwe investigation
The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly solicited the help of prominent criminal attorney Ted Wells for settlement negotiations with former player Chris Kluwe, according to the Pioneer Press.
Wells was hired by the NFL last year to prepare a report on the Miami Dolphins' bullying scandal involving Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito.
Kluwe and his representatives threatened to file a lawsuit against the Vikings in connection with allegations he made last January, but it appears he's now focused on settling with the team.
Wells was in Minnesota on Tuesday to work on those negotiations, a source told the Press.
Kluwe’s side had wanted the Vikings to donate $1 million to LGBT groups, while the team agreed to provide $100,000. Kluwe’s side wants a 150-page report put out by the investigators released. Instead, the Vikings hired another law firm to go over that report and put out a 29-page summary.
Wells' report on the bullying incident found certain members of the Dolphins' offensive line "engaged in a pattern of harassment" directed at Martin, an assistant trainer and some of the team's young linemen.
