Report: Jets cut AWOL cornerback Patterson

The New York Jets won't have to deal with the headache of Dimitri Patterson anymore. The team made the cornerback one of their final cuts ahead of the NFL's 53-man roster deadline Saturday, per Pro Football Talk.
Patterson chose not to show up for the Jets' third preseason game and was eventually suspended by the team for the preseason finale. It's still unclear why he didn't show up to work, but reports suggest he was unhappy with his place on the depth chart.
Patterson's release leaves the Jets precariously thin at cornerback. The former Miami Dolphin, who signed a one-year deal with the Jets this spring, was expected to start before his relationship with the team turned sour.
