Bills open contract talks with C.J. Spiller
Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller is in the final year of his rookie contract, and the team remains committed to signing him to a long-term deal.
Per the Bills' official Twitter account, general manager Doug Whaley told WGR-AM on Tuesday morning that he had a sit-down meeting with Spiller's representatives regarding a contract extension.
"He's a playmaker, and we're trying to keep as many playmakers as possible," Whaley said.
The Bills signed Fred Jackson to a one-year extension this offseason and added Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon, leading to speculation that the team was looking to move Spiller.
A first-round pick in 2010, Spiller signed with Chad Speck and Thomas Sims of Tennessee-based Allegiant Athletic Agency in late August after going unrepresented for three years.
