Dan Snyder: NFL owners are 'fortunate' to have Roger Goodell as commissioner
In light of an independent investigation into the NFL's handling of the domestic-violence case involving former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder is throwing his support behind commissioner Roger Goodell.
"Roger Goodell has always had the best interests of football at heart, both on and off the field. We are fortunate to have him as our Commissioner," Snyder said in a statement released Saturday. "The entire Washington Redskins organization strongly endorses his efforts to eradicate domestic abuse and the independent investigation into the Ray Rice assault."
Rice was suspended indefinitely Monday following the release of new surveillance footage showing the running back punching his then-fiancée in the face and knocking her unconscious.
The NFL claims it did not see the video prior to Monday and reports indicate Rice's account of the incident was "starkly different" from what the video shows.
