Brian Urlacher: Bears would have won Super Bowl with Orton as QB
Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher says that new Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Kyle Orton "would not lose us football games," when he was the starter in Chicago in an appearance on the Peter Schrager podcast.
As good as our defenses were for a couple of years, if he would have been our quarterback I do think we would have won a Super Bowl. Our defenses were so good all we had to do was just hold on to the football and take care of it and we would have won a bunch more games than we did.
Orton threw for almost 3,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while starting 15 games for Chicago in 2008. The team decided to trade him to the Denver Broncos after the season where he led the team to a surprising 6-0 start, throwing 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the season.
ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer also praised Orton on Tuesday, saying he felt the Bills should be favored to win the AFC East with Orton at quarterback as opposed to E.J. Manuel.
Orton has played for four NFL teams since 2011, last starting a game in Week 16 of 2013 for the Dallas Cowboys.
