Panthers' DeAngelo Williams will not play in Week 8; targeting Week 9
Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that DeAngelo Williams is not healthy enough to return in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks but hopes he will be available in Week 9.
"We could put him out there and say, 'Well, we were 95 percent close,' and all of a sudden something bad happens and now you're back to 65 percent," Rivera said, according to David Newton of ESPN. "DeAngelo is the same way. We're being very smart with this, very calculated."
Williams has not played since Week 4 when he suffered a high ankle sprain. He has rushed for 106 yards on 25 carries in two games this season.
