The San Francisco 49ers were hoping to have suspended linebacker Aldon Smith back early, but it looks as though they may be without him again Sunday when they face the New Orleans Saints.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday that he has yet to hear from the NFL regarding the status of Smith, who was suspended nine games for violating the league's substance abuse and personal conduct policies.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported in October that Smith could have his suspension reduced by one or two games for good behavior. He is eligible to return Nov. 10.
