The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday they have signed running back Kendall Hunter to a one-year contract extension through the 2015 season.
Hunter was a fourth round selection of the 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft, and has appeared in 43 games, recording 262 carries for 1,202 yards and seven touchdowns. His 4.59 yards per carry average is ninth best in the NFL among players with at least 250 carries.
A 26-year-old native of Tyler, Tex. suffered a season-ending injury in training camp, but has been with the team on the sideline this season.
