Seahawks place Brandon Mebane on IR

In an expected move, the Seattle Seahawks placed defensive tackle Brandon Mebane on the injured reserve list Tuesday.
Mebane, Seattle's longest-tenured player, suffered a hamstring injury against the New York Giants on Sunday.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Kevin Williams will get more snaps in Mebane's absence.
It's a crushing blow to the Seahawks' defense, as Mebane is widely considered to be the team's best run-stopper.
