The Pittsburgh Steelers have released running back LeGarrette Blount after he left Monday's game early.
Blount was apparently frustrated with the lack of carries he received, and his role on the team.
Several of his Steelers teammates voiced their displeasure Tuesday, with Ben Roethlisberger saying on his weekly radio show, "I don’t think it’s something coach will take lightly. He knows how important team is and camaraderie.… It’s a tough situation he’s going to be in, but that’s why he’s our head coach."
Offensive lineman Ramon Foster added on his radio show, "It did not sit well. I'm sure coach will address it."
The situation had reportedly been deteriorating between Blount and the Steelers for some time, with sources claiming Blount's "selfish behavior" was the root of the problem.
With no support from his teammates or coaches, and Le'Veon Bell dominating on the ground (204 yards and a touchdown Monday), the writing was on the wall for the controversial Blount.
The former Oregon Duck, who was suspended in college after punching another player during the post-game handshake, was arrested in August along with Bell for possession of marijuana.
There are several teams in the market for a running back, with the Indianapolis Colts leading that list.
To claim LeGarrette Blount off waivers, it'd cost a team just the $317,647 he has left in base salary. He hits the wire at 4 p.m. ET.

Blount is the second plodding AFC North running back to be released today, with the Cleveland Browns waiving Ben Tate earlier.
