PHOTOS: Cam Newton thanks fans for well wishes after car crash

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is taking an optimistic approach to his recovery after fracturing his back in a car accident Tuesday.

Newton was discharged from the hospital Wednesday morning, and posted on Instagram later in the evening to express his gratitude to his fans and life in general.

In a heartfelt caption, Newton wrote "I thank you to the people who have been keeping me in there prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery! I am appreciative for the many great things GOD has given me to be thankful for."

Derek Anderson will start in Newton's absence Sunday.
