Giants' Rueben Randle insists he's open

Brad Penner / USA TODAY Sports

Rueben Randle is open if someone wants to throw him the ball.

"I’m continuing to get open on film," the New York Giants' third-year receiver told the New York Post on Thursday. "I only control what I can control. The ball comes my way, I got to make a play. If not, I got to continue to work like it’s coming my way and be prepared when it does.”

Randle has been the most disappointing Giants receiver this season, as expectations were high after Hakeem Nicks signed with the Indianapolis Colts and Victor Cruz was lost for the year with a torn patellar tendon in Week 6.

Randle caught 41 passes for 611 yards and six touchdowns in 2013. This season, though, he has just two touchdowns and his yards per catch have decreased from 14.9 to 10.8.

Considering he should be New York's No. 2 target behind Odell Beckham Jr. on a Giants team that ranks 11th in the league in pass attempts, his lack of production is troubling.

Randle has begun to let his frustration show. He was benched for the first quarter of the Giants' Nov. 13 game against the Jacksonville jaguars after being late to a team meeting.
