Buccaneers' McCoy suffered hyperextended knee vs. Panthers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy hyperextended his right knee, head coach Lovie Smith told reporters after Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Smith said McCoy injured the same knee he hurt a week ago in Detroit, but noted that this injury was unrelated to last week's.

McCoy declined to speak with reporters after the game.

Smith did not offer any insight into the severity of McCoy's injury, but with two games remaining, it's difficult to imagine the Buccaneers would put McCoy back out there and risk further injury the rest of the way.
