The San Francisco 49ers will interview former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan Friday, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.
The 49ers are reportedly in Denver to interview Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase and will take the opportunity to formally sit down with Shanahan, a Denver resident.
Shanahan is coming off an unsuccessful run with the Redskins from 2010-2013 but still has the historical clout to get looks from franchises in need of a head coach.
He has previously expressed an interest in returning to the NFL for a contender.
