Steelers' Troy Polamalu, James Harrison face uncertain futures

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers' season ended on Saturday night and it left many wondering if that was the final game of safety Troy Polamalu's career.

Polamalu spoke to reporters after the loss to the Baltimore Ravens and said he's not yet sure if that's it for his possible Hall of Fame career.

"Time will tell," Polamalu said, according to Scott Brown of ESPN.com. "Honestly, we just lost a game," said Polamalu, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2010. "I don't think I'm prepared to even think about that or talk about that at this time."

Teammate James Harrison also faces an uncertain future. The 36-year-old linebacker came out of retirement in September after Jarvis Jones suffered a wrist injury and is not under contract for next season.

While he hasn't made a definitive decision on whether to call it quits (again), Harrison acknowledged that Saturday's game could be his last.

"You never want to end on a loss," Harrison said. "You want to go out kissing the Lombardi (Trophy).

"We'll see. I'm not going to answer a question (about the future) right now because I'm not in the right mind frame."
