Darrelle Revis opens up about first season with Patriots

Darrelle Revis's first season with the New England Patriots couldn't have gone any better.

Revis was named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in three years, and helped the Patriots clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

In an exclusive with Monday Morning Quarterback's Greg Bedard, Revis discussed his first season with the Patriots, if he's the league's best cornerback and his interactions with head coach Bill Belichick, among many topics.

"I just think this was the best situation for me when I got released from Tampa last year and became a free agent," Revis said. "I tried to weigh my options, especially me growing as a player and as a man. Being through all the stuff I've been through in the past, I felt like this was the right place for me."

The 29-year-old recorded two interceptions and graded out as the fourth-best cornerback in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

Revis has been used effectively by Belichick this season, and the Patriots' star expanded on his relationship with his head coach.

"Being on the inside now, I see why we win so much on a week-to-week basis," Revis said. "He's probably broken every record you can break as a coach. I mean, he's won five Super Bowls (three with Patriots, two as Giants' defensive coordinator) and been to seven, so that tells you he knows what he's talking about - he definitely knows ball, so you have to respect him for that.

"And just being around him, seeing how he operates as a head coach, how he works and runs the team, it's pretty awesome."

Although he certainly has a claim to the title, Revis refused to name himself or another cornerback as the best in football.

"Am I the best? I'm past that; I'm over that question," he said. "Everybody has their own opinions, man. There are some great corners out there: Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, Joe Haden. I support them all. It's a movement, and it’s great to have a bunch of corners that can cover."
