Steelers, defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau agree to mutually part ways
The Pittsburgh Steelers and defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau have agreed to mutually part ways.
LeBeau served as the team's defensive coordinator since 2004, his second tenure with the team.
LeBeau said in an interview with the Urbana Daily Citizen that the move is a "mutual parting" between the two sides, and that he is resigning from his post with the Steelers.
"I'm resigning this position, not retiring," LeBeau said. "I had a great run in Pittsburgh. I’m grateful for all the things that have happened to me and thankful for all the support I had in Pittsburgh."
LeBeau won two Super Bowls in his most recent tenure with the Steelers, a span of 11 years.
The Steelers went 11-5 and won the AFC North this season, but injuries to the defense led to a down year for the unit.
"It was a lot of fun," LeBeau said. "It's just time to make a break."
