Seahawks' Chancellor: 'They call me Batman. I'm the Dark Knight'
Richard Sherman isn't the only Seattle Seahawks defensive player who has a way with words.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, or "Superman" as he's called, met Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor on Saturday night, who has a nickname of his own.
"They call me Batman," Chancellor said after Seattle secured another berth in the NFC championship on the back of his monster game and pick-6. "I'm the Dark Knight. And I can't change in a phone booth or a closet."
Chancellor's interception was his third in three straight playoff games, and at 90 yards it set a Seahawks franchise record for longest touchdown in playoff history.
Chancellor left his mark all over Saturday's game. He had 11 tackles in addition to his touchdown, and two leaps over the Panthers' offensive line.
"He plays in a dark place. He damages people's souls," said Sherman.
"He's such a hard worker and such a dedicated player," Sherman added. "He puts in the man hours. He deserves this. He deserved to be first team All-Pro. Unfortunately, we can't go back and change that."
The Panthers were threatening, at the Seattle 13, down 24-10, when Chancellor picked off Newton and ran it all the way back, ending Carolina hopes of a comeback.
"I saw Cam under pressure and it looked like he was about to get tackled," Chancellor said. "Then he threw the ball right to me. I read the play and I took it home."
Asked about Newton's "Superman" nickname, Chancellor said it best.
"He can have it."
