Cowboys make new 5-year, $30M contract with Jason Garrett official
The Dallas Cowboys and head coach Jason Garrett made their new five-year contract official at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
At the press conference, it was also announced that the team has retained coordinators Scott Linehan and Rod Marinelli, with Linehan being promoted to offensive coordinator, replacing the departing Bill Callahan.
Garrett's deal - worth $30 million over five years - makes him the 10th highest paid coach on an annual basis in the NFL.
After going 8-8 in three straight seasons under Garrett, the team went 12-4 in 2014, winning a playoff game for the first time in five years.
"I like to think that we're building something. There's no question that you do start all over again," Garrett said, according to the team's official website. "But whatever the makeup of our team is going to be when we reassemble in the spring is going to be different than it is right now. The 2014 Dallas Cowboys are a unique entity. But I'd like to think that when we get together we're going to have these cornerstone pieces and we're going to have these experiences that we've had together that we can build on and we can benefit from."
