VIDEO: Katy Perry goes airborne in colorful, cartoonish halftime show

Katy Perry kicked off the most psychedelic halftime performance in Super Bowl history, riding a gigantic, golden lion and finished it by soaring through the air on a shooting star as fireworks lit up the sky in and around University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
In between, Perry breezed through a gauntlet of mega-hit songs including "California Gurls" and "I Kissed A Girl" alongside chess pieces, smiling palm trees and dancing sharks. Yes, you read that right.
Oh, and Lenny Kravitz showed up to help out, as did surprise guest star Missy Elliott. Remember them?

Perry's performance may not be remembered as the best in Super Bowl history, or even among the best, but it was certainly the most cartoonish. Considering the absurdity of staging a 12-minute pop concert in the middle of the biggest football game of the year, perhaps the tone was appropriate.
