Terrence Cody indicted for animal cruelty, illegal possession of alligator
Former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody has been indicted on animal cruelty charges, Baltimore County police announced Monday.
Cody, whose contract was terminated by the Ravens earlier on Monday, was processed and released on $10,000 bail.
The case against Cody reportedly involves the death of one of his dogs, a Bullmastiff from Spain worth approximately $8,000. His agent, Peter Schaffer, told Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that the dog died after Cody took it to a veterinarian for treatment.
Cody faces two counts of aggravated animal cruelty involving a dog, five counts of animal abuse or neglect involving a dog, one count of illegal possession of an alligator, and five counts of animal abuse or neglect involving an alligator, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports. He is also facing possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.
