It was no surprise that former tight end Jake Fisher fared well in the 3-cone drill, showing off his agility and footwork to scouts. Fisher has helped his draft stock Friday, landing at or near the top of the leaderboard in almost every drill.
Ali Marpet continued his breakout performance. The Division III prospect finished second in yet another drill and is proving to be the type of athlete teams could use at center. The top center on many analysts draft boards performed well in the 3-cone. The versatile lineman has proven he has the kind of athleticism to play anywhere on the field and his combine shouldn't dissuade a team in need of a center from taking him first.
Other Notable Performances
- T.J. Clemmings (OT), Pittsburgh - 7.68 sec.
- Laurence Gibson (OT), Virginia Tech - 7.72 sec.
- Reese Dismukes (C), Auburn - 8.14 sec.
- Josue Matias (G), Florida St. - 8.19 sec.
Clemmings and Gibson performed well once again, cementing their status as two of the top offensive line performers.
On the disappointing side of things, Josue Matias hasn't had a strong showing, failing to perform well in any event and has't disspelled the heavy-footed rumors that could cost him a draft spot on day two.
