Combine star J.J. Nelson considering running in Olympics
J.J. Nelson ran the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine last weekend, but may have put his blazing speed to other use.
Nelson once considered running in the Olympics and hasn't ruled out the possibility in the future.
The former UAB receiver spoke to reporters about his career ambitions Wednesday.
"I have a lot of interest in that," Nelson said to Yahoo Sports's Eric Adelson. "Whatever happens with football, I was considering running in the Olympics."
It's an ambitious goal, but one that may not be entirely realistic. Nelson said he ran a 10.4 100-metre dash in high school, but the automatic qualification time for the U.S. Olympic team in 2012 was a 10.18.
Nelson is projected to be a late-round pick, but saw his stock skyrocket after his sprint at the combine.
