Report: LeSean McCoy not happy about trade to Bills
The news of LeSean McCoy reportedly being dealt to the Buffalo Bills caught everyone by surprise, including McCoy himself.
A source close to McCoy told ESPN's Josina Anderson that the running back was not happy.
"He’s a Pennsylvania kid," the source said. "He’s never played football outside of Pennsylvania - high school, college, pro. So of course he's not happy. Sounds like it’s pretty final to me unless LeSean is refusing to go to Buffalo."
"Honestly, he's frustrated," he continued. "It's alright. It's the league. I told him that. I guess he just never experienced that, but he was like, 'why me?'"
The source reiterated that McCoy never saw the move coming.
"Honestly we were under the impression the whole time that eventually at some point, Chip (Kelly) was going to ask LeSean to restructure his contract -not a pay cut, but convert some of his signing bonus."
He added that a move to Buffalo may not go smoothly and that McCoy is "not going to make it easy, that's for sure."
"It'll be interesting to see how this process plays itself out because he's an interesting individual."
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports can also foresee a situation where the union between McCoy and the Bills may get off on the wrong foot.
The shock for McCoy will likely wear off and he should eventually realize he'll get a chance to be a feature back in Buffalo, where Rex Ryan's team figures to run the football heavily.
