Report: Dolphins to release Dannell Ellerbe
The Miami Dolphins will release linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.
After contributing to the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl victory three seasons ago, the Dolphins signed Ellerbe to a five-year, $35-million contract in March 2013.
Ellerbe has struggled to make a return on Miami's investment, suffering a season-ending hip injury in the team's opener against the New England Patriots.
The 29-year-old recorded a career-high 101 tackles in 15 games with the Dolphins in 2013.
