Every-down running backs are becoming a rarity in the NFL and Steven Jackson wants to do something about it.
In a YouTube video uploaded Monday, Jackson makes a plea for fans to visit his new website, SaveTheRunningBack.org, and write their favorite team asking that they return value to the running back position.
"I wanted to be Walter Payton all of the time," Jackson explains in the video. "Not some of the downs. Not half of the downs. But all of the downs. That's why I'm speaking out for running backs across the sport. The position we all fell in love with, the every down back, is becoming an endangered species on the gridiron."
