Andre Johnson signs with Colts

Andre Johnson is trying to ensure that the Houston Texans will rue the day they allowed him to sign with another club.

Johnson signed with the Texans' AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday.

It's official I'm a Colt

Although the Colts did not disclose the terms of the deal, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports that Johnson signed a three-year contract, worth $21 million.

Johnson is the all-time leader in every major receiving category for the Texans and was the face of the franchise for 12 years.

Indianapolis boasted the most salary-cap space out of any 2014 playoff team and used it wisely to revamp the team's offense. The Colts also signed running back Frank Gore to shore up the team's decrepit running game.

The seven-time Pro Bowler caught 85 passes for 936 yards and three touchdowns last season and reportedly balked at a reduced role in the Texans' offense for 2015.

Indianapolis and Houston are the class of the division; either the Colts or Texans have captured the AFC South since 2009, with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans both in the middle of extensive rebuilding projects.

Upon joining the Colts, Johnson joins a vaunted passing offense that already boasts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and emerging tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener.

The San Diego Chargers made a strong push to recruit Johnson to California, reportedly offering him more money than the Colts did, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport

Johnson reportedly told teams pursuing him that he wanted to play with a great, young quarterback.

Enter, Andrew Luck.

Luck has led the Colts to the playoffs in each of his three NFL seasons and is now armed with enough weapons to continue a deep postseason run.

Indianapolis may still be reeling from a crushing 45-7 defeat in the AFC Championship game to the eventual Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots

With Johnson coming over from the Colts' rival, Indianapolis has enough weapons to supplant the defending champs.
