Everything you need to know about the Veteran Combine
The first-ever Veteran Combine is officially in the books and while no one blew the scouts away with their performance, there were plenty of interesting storylines from the festivities.
Michael Sam confident he'll be playing in 2015
Michael Sam had an average showing on Sunday, but his belief that he will be playing somewhere in 2015 has not wavered. The pass rusher even indicated he would be willing to take an opportunity in the CFL.
Michael Bush unhappy with his performance
While Sam left feeling optimistic about his future, the same couldn't be said for Michael Bush. The running back was disappointed he even had to participate in the combine to try and earn a job, and then was horrified with the results of his 40 time.
Electronic timing hurting 40 results?
Bush was one of several that clocked in slower than expected, while reports came out about an electronic timing system that could have been the cause. They weren't using the hand-timing method that the league typically employs at the Scouting Combine and that may have led to times as much as .2 seconds slower.
Brady Quinn eyeing a lengthy career revival
One would think all Brady Quinn would be hoping for from the Veteran Combine is a contract after not taking a snap since 2012. Quinn, though, has much bigger aspirations. He is hoping to play the game late into his 30's.
Japanese receiver turns some heads
Takashi Kurihara traveled the furthest to get to the combine, but it wasn't a wasted trip. The Japanese receiver posted three 40 times in the 4.5 range and at the very least, earned the respect of his peers.
Adam Carriker is still strong
Former Washington Redskins defensive lineman Adam Carriker hasn't played in the league for almost three seasons, but that doesn't mean he has lost his power. Carriker recorded 40 reps at the bench press and may have convinced an organization to take a chance on him in the process.
Brandon Copeland reportedly earned 4 offers
The combine may have paid dividends for linebacker Brandon Copeland only hours after it concluded. Copeland, a linebacker currently playing in the Arena Football League, reportedly has contract offers from four teams.
