Cowboys not in a rush to extend Dez Bryant, not worried about holdout
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't sound like he's in a rush to sign franchise-tagged wide receiver Dez Bryant to a long-term deal.
"It's not imperative for him or us to get something done by the season or otherwise," Jones told the team's official website.
Jones said he's sure both parties want to reach a long-term agreement, but suggested he isn't worried about Bryant staging a holdout as a negotiating tactic.
"I'm not worried about that at all, and it's because of how much he loves the game, how much he knows that preparation, practice, all of that improves him," Jones said.
Bryant is scheduled to earn $12.7 million under the franchise tag. If a long-term extension isn't reached, the Cowboys can franchise their star wideout again in 2016 at 120 percent of his 2015 salary.
