Eagles' Mychal Kendricks downplays trade speculation

Mychal Kendricks compiled another excellent campaign for the Philadelphia Eagles last season, but is the subject of rampant trade speculation ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Kendricks, a standout linebacker, is reported to be on the trading block along with slot cornerback specialist Brandon Boykin, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It was also reported Kendricks is being actively shopped for a second-round selection, to little avail according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora

The rumors don't appear to be fazing Kendricks as he's spending time with his family, as his younger brother Eric slated to be a potential first-round selection.

"I try not to worry about anything I can't control," Kendricks said to Philadelphia Magazine's Tim McManus. "Just worried about being in the present with my loved ones and right now, that's what I'm focused on - that and being the best football player/linebacker in the upcoming 2015 season."

Kendricks recorded 83 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles in 12 games.

"I'm busting my (stones) and working my ass off prepping for this season. I'm working out with my brother as he gets ready for the draft. Once in a lifetime deal with this whole process and I want to be here for him as well, you know?

"I'm going to kick ass (in 2015). I've never been more excited," Kendricks said.

One of the centerpieces of a young, upstart Eagles defense, Kendricks would have value if he were in serious consideration to be traded. However, it appears that he'll be staying with the Eagles for the time being.
