Brandon Spikes on returning to Patriots: 'Me and The Hoodie kissed and made up'
Brandon Spikes' first stint with the New England Patriots didn't end well.
After the Patriots opted not to re-sign the linebacker following the 2013 season, Spikes lashed out at the organization on Twitter, calling his time in New England "four years a slave."
Speaking Friday for the first time since rejoining the Patriots on a one-year deal, Spikes insisted everything is fine between him and head coach Bill Belichick.
"I don't want to talk about that," Spikes said of his departure, via Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com. "You can clearly see me and The Hoodie kissed and made up. I'm here, that's in the past. I'm moving on."
He proceeded to throw several compliments Belichick's way.
"I just look at Bill as a genius," Spikes said. "He can plug guys in and still be efficient and be productive, top of the league in all categories. That's what makes him great. Just to have that opportunity to play under (one of) the greatest coaches ever is a dream come true and I want to definitely take advantage of it. Let him coach me up ins and outs, everything."
Spikes appeared in all 16 games for the Buffalo Bills last season, finishing with 54 tackles and a sack. His teammates like to remind him that they won a Super Bowl during his year away, but he isn't letting that get to him.
"You know, it's the same thing, they have that big ring and we moving on from that, but some of the guys are going to throw it in my face, but it is what it is, it's all fun and games," Spikes said. "But, I am letting them know I am here to work and make this ball club. It's that simple. I am trying to get better each and every day and control what I can control."
