NFL, Yahoo partner to deliver Week 7 Bills-Jaguars tilt as 1st-ever free global live stream
The NFL announced Wednesday it has partnered with Yahoo! Inc. to produce the first-ever global live stream of an NFL game, delivering a Week 7 duel between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills in London to fans worldwide.
The game will be made available to watch for free on Oct. 25 at 9:30 a.m. ET via digital stream across multiple Yahoo properties - including Yahoo, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Screen and Tumblr - on computers, mobile devices and Internet-connected televisions.
Yahoo paid at least $20 million for the rights to the game, according to Peter Kafka of Re/code.
"The NFL has always been committed to being at the forefront of media innovation. Through this partnership with Yahoo - one of the world's most recognizable digital brands - we are taking another important step in that direction as we continue to closely monitor the rapidly evolving digital media landscape," commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement distributed by the league.
Yahoo president and CEO Marissa Mayer called the partnership "a significant change in the way users can access this amazing content."
The Jaguars-Bills game will also be televised in both local markets.
