Buccaneers claim tight end Tim Wright off waivers

Rob Foldy / USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed tight end Tim Wright off waivers on Friday, according to multiple sources.

Wright was waived by the New England Patriots on Thursday after being acquired from the Bucs before last season in exchange for guard Logan Mankins and a fourth-round pick.

Now entering his third season, Wright will hope to produce the kind of steady numbers he had in his rookie season, when he caught 54 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns.

Wright caught 26 passes for 259 yards and six touchdowns in 2014.
