Report: Rams prioritizing long-term contract for Nick Foles

The St. Louis Rams are looking towards working on a long-term contract for quarterback Nick Foles ahead of the 2015 season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Foles was acquired by the Rams in a trade on March along with a 2015 fourth-round and 2016 second-round pick, sending Sam Bradford and a 2015 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange.

By acquiring Foles, the Rams essentially committed to the 26-year-old as their quarterback of the future, with Bradford failing to live up to top billing after being selected first overall in 2010.

Foles gained national attention in 2013, recording an outstanding 27 touchdowns against a mere two interceptions, completing 64 percent of his passes in 13 games. However, Foles' numbers regressed to a more reasonable total in 2014, throwing 13 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

With a young, talented defense ready to buoy the team into the playoffs, Foles could quickly become the face of the franchise if his first season with the Rams is closer to 2013 than it was in 2014.
