Ex-Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes puts championship ring on eBay
Brandon Spikes' messy breakup with the New England Patriots has reached the point where the veteran linebacker is looking to ditch the AFC title ring given to him by his former team.
Spikes was recently released by the Patriots, only weeks after re-signing with the team, after details emerged linking the linebacker to a hit-and-run incident. Spikes was later charged with several crimes.
Perhaps in an attempt to find closure, Spikes wants to get rid of his 2011 AFC Championship ring.
(Yes, NFL teams give their players rings not only for winning the Super Bowl, but also for winning the conference championship.)
As CSNNE.com points out, Spikes' ring was recently put up for sale on eBay for a listed price of $19,499.

It's hard to say whether Spikes' decision to sell his memento was inspired by spite or is an attempt to milk the last few dollars he can out of his career, since there's no guarantee he'll get another NFL opportunity. Maybe it's both.
