Sam Dekker's professional career officially began Thursday when he was selected 18th overall by the Houston Rockets, but was greeted by a luminary from a different sport upon being drafted.
Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers celebrated with the Wisconsin product Thursday night. Rodgers became a Wisconsin icon after leading the state's beloved Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl championship in 2010.
Dekker and Rodgers formed a friendship while the 21-year-old starred for the Badgers' basketball team, and his most famous pal couldn't miss a good opportunity to hang out.
The other big bro came to celebrate in New York too. #HTown pic.twitter.com/0nvMyk6c3L

Rodgers once declared he wouldn't wear Wisconsin red, but broke his promise after his friend was selected by the red-clad Rockets.
2 semesters at Butte
3 semesters at Cal
10 years a Wisconsin resident.
I'll pull for any team I want.
But I don't wear red.

It was a great evening for both gentlemen, one that Dekker surely won't forget anytime soon.
