New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has yet to speak publicly about his Fourth of July fireworks accident, but he's kept in touch with former teammate Justin Tuck, who provided an update Monday.
"What I told JPP is go out and play football. I've been in constant conversation with JPP," Tuck said at the 4th Annual Newark Mentoring Movement Charity Golf Outing at Liberty National Golf Club, via Jordan Raanan of NJ.com.
Tuck is the first known player to make contact with Pierre-Paul. Teammates reached out to Pierre-Paul after the accident, but he has reportedly restricted his correspondence to family and close friends.
Pierre-Paul reportedly had his right index finger amputated and underwent surgery to repair fractures in his thumb, but all indications are that he should be able to return within two months.
"He'll be the first one to tell you he made a mistake," Tuck said. "He's fine. He's going to have a great year."
