Pitta (hip) will likely be placed on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list for training camp and the start of the regular season, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis:
Pitta did some individual drills throughout offseason workouts, but he still hasn't been cleared for contact. There's little question that he'll open training camp on the PUP list, and the Ravens apparently expect him to remain there for the start of the season, which would rule him out for the first six games. Even if he does eventually make it back onto the field, Pitta may be limited to a part-time role. Crockett Gillmore is the favorite to start for the Ravens at in-line tight end, but second-round draft pick Maxx Williams might still see more targets in a slot role.
