Seahawks release Tony McDaniel

In need of salary-cap space, the Seattle Seahawks have released defensive tackle Tony McDaniel.
The move comes one day after the Seahawks reached a reported four-year, $43-million contract extension with linebacker Bobby Wagner. A day earlier, the Seahawks signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a four-year deal worth a reported $87.6 million.
McDaniel started 29 of 32 games for the Seahawks over the past two seasons, recording 39 tackles and two sacks during that time. He had a base salary of $2.5 million this season and was set to become a free agent in 2016.
