Packers' B.J. Raji down to lowest weight since college

B.J. Raji is looking slimmer these days.

The Green Bay Packers defensive lineman reported to training camp at 327 pounds, seven lighter than a year ago and 10 under the weight he played at between 2009 and 2013.

"I swear to God," Raji told Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Saturday. "I'm 327. Haven't been this low since college."

Raji's weight fluctuated during his time at Boston College and his early years with the Packers. He still remembers the warning he received from defensive coordinator Dom Capers and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac before Green Bay selected him with the No. 9 overall pick of the 2009 draft.

"They used to always tell me, 'You're a rookie now, but eventually you won't be,'" Raji said. "They said with my physiology and genetics, if you're not more disciplined a little bit more as you get older, it can get out of control."

Coming off a season-ending torn biceps, Raji will be will used solely at nose tackle this season. He's not worried about the lost weight affecting his ability to take on double teams.

"To me, it's more about technique in the middle," he said. "Every nose isn't humongous. There are small guys that play with good technique."
