Redskins' Niles Paul suffers ankle fracture dislocation; will miss entire season
Washington Redskins tight end Niles Paul suffered an ankle fracture dislocation during Thursday's game against the Cleveland Browns and will miss the entire season.
"A huge loss for us," head coach Jay Gruden said following the game. "He's a great player and a great leader."
Paul was despondent as he tweeted about his status Friday morning:
The Redskins tight end was blocking in the running game when he collided with Browns linebacker Craig Robertson, causing Paul's leg to bend significantly.
Paul's left leg was placed in an air cast before leaving the field, an indication the injury was going to be significant.
Washington's tight end depth was further depleted after Je'Ron Hamm left the game with a left thigh injury and didn't return. The Redskins are already without Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen, and will be forced to use a sub-replacement-level player if the team's existing quarter can't return before Week 1.
