Jay Gruden expects RG3 to remain Redskins' starter once he returns

It's unclear how much time Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will miss after suffering the second concussion of his career, but when he does return, head coach Jay Gruden expects him to resume starting duties.

Griffin was injured in Thursday night's 21-17 victory over the Detroit Lions, putting his availability for the third preseason game in question.

"We'll have to see," Gruden said after the game when asked how long Griffin will be sidelined, and whether his ability to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 29 would alter the team's plans for the regular-season opener, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

"I would imagine, depending on how long he is out, he is still going to be our starter," Gruden continued. "We have to wait and go through the whole process and see how he recovers; see how fast he recovers. I have no idea as far as the third preseason game, fourth one, right now."

Griffin suffered a concussion in Week 5 of his rookie season, but was able to return the next week. Washington won't practice again until Sunday, at which point the team should have a better idea about Griffin's availability.
