VIDEO: Drew Brees tackles a crocodile

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

It's been quite an offseason for Drew Brees animal encounters.

After Triple Crown winner American Pharoah took a few minutes out of his busy horse schedule in July to meet with Brees and his family, an unnamed crocodile allowed the nine-time Pro Bowler to jump on his back.

Meanwhile, here's Drew Brees killing a crocodile.

NBC, likely looking to capitalize on the natural chemistry between Brees and elite members of the animal kingdom, had the Saints quarterback appear on "Running Wild with Bear Grylls."

Delightful, right? Wrong.

"Of all the things you thought I might do today or asked me what I would do," Brees said during the episode, "the last thing I would have told you" - uh-huh, right there with you - "was stab a crocodile" -

What?

- "gut it" -

Good lord -

"and then carry it out of the jungle."

...

"But that's what you do with Bear Grylls."

OK, sure.
