Titans' Casey says Manziel doesn't warrant 'Johnny Football' nickname
Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey spoke dismissively of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel ahead of their clash Sunday.
Casey, one of the NFL's perpetually underrated players, is rather unfazed by the Heisman Trophy winner, stating that Manziel doesn't deserve his "Johnny Football" nickname.
"Honestly, not really," Casey told CBS Sports' Jared Dubin. "That's more so what the media likes to hype on. You've got to earn your respect in this league. As of right now, he really hasn't done too much to really go out there and call him Johnny Football. He's Johnny Manziel to me. We've got to out there and put a hat on him as much as possible."
To Manziel's credit, the second-year pro disassociated himself from his former moniker, and will no longer perform his money sign celebration after touchdowns.
Casey, who is versatile enough to vacillate between defensive end and tackle, may be irritated by the constant attention Manziel garners.
Manziel is likely to start for the Browns, especially if Josh McCown isn't cleared by the league's concussion protocol Friday. Casey could have a chance to tell the quarterback how he really feels on the field.
