The Philadelphia Eagles aren't giving up on the idea of Kiko Alonso returning to the field in the very near future.
Alonso suffered what appeared to be a significant knee injury in the Eagles' Week 2 loss, but head coach Chip Kelly told reporters Tuesday that Alonso has only a sprain, and indicated the linebacker could be on the field this weekend.
What constitutes a sprain is up for debate, and the Eagles don't seem to be in a hurry to clarify it.
Alonso missed the 2014 season with a torn ACL, and a report emerged Tuesday suggesting his latest injury is a partial ACL tear.
Kelly said the Eagles will continue to evaluate Alonso before deciding if and when he'll be cleared to play.
