Jaguars release Ziggy Hood from reserve/injured list
The Jacksonville Jaguars released defensive tackle Ziggy Hood from the team's reserve/injured list Tuesday.
Hood passed a physical and was subsequently released. The veteran defensive tackle was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury suffered in a preseason game against the Washington Redskins.
The 28-year-old, who never missed a game during his first six seasons, signed a four-year deal worth $16 million in March 2014, after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With star defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks making his season debut Sunday, it's likely the Jaguars viewed Hood as expendable.
In corresponding moves, the Jaguars placed Corey Grant and Tony Washington on season-ending injured reserve. Jacksonville promoted Neal Sterling from the practice squad, and released Jeff Tuel from the practice squad.
